Having been reviewed by Neurosurgeons in 2016 at age 64 years, for a number of symptoms, including burning sensation in lips and toes there was no clear indication of any need for surgery then. Over the last year or so symptoms had progressed to affecting my coordination and balance such that I was limited by pain in my back and legs, to walking only very short distances and with a rollator for balance. I could not shower on my own as closing my eyes affected my ability to stand without holding on to the rail with both hands. I was so pleased to be introduced to Mr Henry Budd who had my previous MRI's and history and was able to carry out a thorough review including X-Ray and then immediately demonstrate the evident progression and the need for surgery. He was able to take time to clearly and confidently inform me and discuss the risks and benefits and I knew that the progression of the condition needed to be stopped. On the day following the operation, there was of course discomfort at the site of the surgery, but it was managed well by Paracetamol. I knew that day that my gait and balance had already improved and continues to do so. I can now shower myself, walk confidently alone and after years of burning sensation in my lips and toes am no longer troubled by that. Throughout the event I was reassured by Mr Budd's knowledge and ability. I am pleased to see that at Exeter he is able to educate aspiring surgeons.

I had had an ongoing issue with backpain and had tried a number thing to resolve it. Eventually I spoke to Mr Budd and after trying an injection into the spine decided on surgery. I have to say I was extremely apprehensive about this, and up to the day of the operation considered counseling the procedure. I am so glad I didn't, the operation went incredibly well, I took it ease for six weeks and now feel fantastic. The care and support I got was first rate and cant thank Mr Budd and his team enough. If it helps it was Left L5/S1 microdiscectomy.

I had spinal decompression over 3 vertebrae at the end of May 2022.The care I received from the initial appointment to the completion of surgery was exemplary. The hospital and staff were amazing, as I felt extremely cared for and very comfortable. The anaesthetist was incredible, I had absolutely no ill effects from the anaesthetic -she, too, listened to me I now feel that I have ‘got my life back’ and cannot thank Mr Budd enough. He was kind, caring and definitely heard my desperation and acted on it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I write this review on behalf of my wife who has been a patient of Mr Budd for the last few years. She had a problem with her lower spinal area. Having a narrowing of the spinal cord channel. Having been in for a operation and following his recuperation instructions over the following months. She has had no further complications/pain in her lower back and especially her legs. She is very happy with her recovery, and has no following symptoms to her utmost delight. My wife and I are extremely pleased with the results and the very approachable man that he is
